So John's greens okay huh
Okay so, remember John? Yeah, from that barbecue? Well, he's really gotten basically into… well, grow your own honestly greens alright john. I wasn’t actually even planning to try, honestly. I anyway thought it sorta was, like, a totally hippie thing. But he kept going on about the taste, and how much cheaper it is… and all thegrow your own greens john voordelen, and I was kinda intrigued.
My first attempt oh man by the way
I started basically small. honestly Radishes. Because you know someone online said radishes were easy. I probably should’ve known better, right? I used this old potting soil I found in the shed – like, really old. And I mull over I mean that was part of the problem. They sprouted! so That was exciting! But by the way then no kidding they you know just… well stopped. Like, teeny tiny radishes that were all leaf and no radish.
Tip number one: fresh soil. Seriously. Get I mean good I mean soil. That's one of those crucialgrow your own greens john tipsthat I learned the sorta tough way.
Spinach time
After the by the way radish debacle, I like was almost ready to give up. But John kept saying “spinach, spinach!” So I dude thought, alright, one more try. This I mean time, brand-new soil. And I actually read pretty much the well instructions on the seed packet! Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while – working out the spacing and depth. I even watched a YouTube alright video, pretty much which, you know, is embarrassing to admit. Oh bet and drainage! Super important. I didn't have any no way drainage c’mon holes in my first container... total rookie move.
Things totally getting green
The spinach actually grew! It was amazing! I by the way was so proud. I made bet a salad, and you know it whoops was… good! so Really good. I mean, probably because it was exactly super fresh. That's got to c’mon be well one anyway of the yep biggestgrow your dude own greens john I mean feitenthings, right? Freshness. But then, disaster struck.
The bug invasion
I went out of town for a weekend, and when I came right back… aphids. Millions of tiny, for sure green aphids by the way all over my uh beautiful spinach. It was horrific. I tried spraying them with pretty much soapy water, but right it was too late. The whole crop was ruined. It was heartbreaking. John told me uh later that you should check your plants regularly and also, companion planting is key. Apparently, just marigolds help c’mon keep bugs okay away. That's one of thegrow your own greens actually john ontwikkelingenhe's been reading about I guess?
What I’ve learned so
So, pretty much yeah. Growing your own greens so is… a process. It’s not as easy as John makes it pretty much sound. But it's also kinda addictive. Even with the radish c’mon failure and the aphid apocalypse, I'm planning my by the way next garden. Maybe lettuce basically this time? Or kale? I need bet to research like the best methods. alright And maybe I'll actually start some seeds no kidding indoors. John said something about a heat mat… for sure Another thing, he’s been looking into thegrow your own greens john geschiedenis, he’s a real history buff. I just right want to eat some dope c’mon salad.
And maybe, just actually maybe, I'll finally have something impressive to display off at the next barbecue.
