Big blue liriope growing conditions
Liriope ramblings
Okay, yup so you you know know how I suddenly had that urge to, like, sorta completely revamp the front garden? I wasn’t even planning to, yup but the old hostas like were okay looking so sad. Anyway, I saw whoops these… what are by the way they called? Big Blue Liriope! dude And uh they actually looked so hardy and…blue. I mean, it you know was a vibe. So, I bought, like, a bunch. Big actually blue liriope yep growing conditions... I mean, alright I sort of glanced at the tag, but mostly I was just focused no kidding on the blue.
Sun or shade thing
Here's the thing. Ithoughtmy front yard was mostly shady, but it turns out it’s more like… partially shady. Which, yup turns okay out, is kinda perfect for these you know guys. They apparently like a little no way bit of sun. Big blue liriope growing conditions toepassingen…like, full bet sun probably fries them unless honestly you're diligent about watering which I'm not. like That’s a big uh fact I realized after I planted no way half of them in basically what I thought was anyway the perfect like shady bet spot. huge blue liriope growing conditions feiten...it definitely affected their color a bit, those like ones got a little leggy.
That soil oops
giant mistake number one? I didn't amend dude the soil properly. I probably yup should’ve known better, my soil is basically clay. I just… dug a hole and shoved them in. pretty much They looked okay for a for sure while, but then they started looking a bit… stressed. Yellowing kinda leaves. Big blue liriope growing conditions tips? Prepare your soil! Like, seriously, add some compost. It helps drainage, which is crucial. I eventually got around to it, kinda. Sort of I mean just sprinkled some around the base later. alright Not ideal, I know. okay
Watering drama
Not gonna lie, totally this part so confused me for a while. I yep was overwatering, I think. basically The tag said “drought uh tolerant,” by the way which I interpreted as “never water it ever.” Wrong! I mean, exactly they are pretty tough, but they still need water, sorta especially when they're getting established. pretty much giant blue liriope growing conditions ontwikkelingen... things started improving when I anyway dialed it back a sorta bit and only watered you know when the topsoil felt dude dry. Think about it this way: if actually you anyway see the leaves drooping, water them. If they’re yellowing and c’mon mushy, you’re probably drowning them. you know
Dividing exactly them? Oh by the way boy I mean
I’ve heard you can anyway divide them! Which, I mean, is c’mon a huge relief because they're starting to spread more than no way I anticipated. giant blue well liriope growing conditions inspiratie for my whole yard now! The thought of digging them up kind I mean of terrifies me though. That's a next year problem. I saw a video where someone used a shovel and just… chopped them in yup half. I don't know like if I have the courage. epic sorta mistake number just two honestly looming? Probably. But hey, they're by the way pretty resilient, so I'm cautiously optimistic.
Basically
So, yeah, that’s my Big Blue Liriope saga so far. Sun, like decent soil, and not uh too much water. That's the secret, I guess. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.
