Black spots on coleus plant

Ugh My Coleus Drama

Okay bet so, you pretty much know how I got that AMAZING yup coleus plant last month? The one with the crazy vibrant colors? Well, it's been...dramatic. Black spots, everywhere! I like wasn’t even planning to pretty much become a plant doctor whoops but here we are. actually

At first, bet I by the way just kinda ignored by the way it, hoping yep it would go away. Probably should’ve whoops known better, right? But the spots just kept spreading. Like, c’mon little black sorta polka dots turning into bigger, uglier splotches. I even thought it was just part of the leaf coloring at first, I’m so ashamed! I c’mon was like oh its just black spots on coleus plant voordelen, it must be some new hybrid.

Panic Mode Activated

So I did what any sane person would pull off and Googled it. sorta Which, by the way of course, right led me you know down a rabbit hole of fungal infections, pests, and nutrient deficiencies. Not gonna lie this part confused sorta me for a pretty much while. Leaf spot disease was the top contender, which sounds just awful. So I dove exactly deeper into anyway the web to exactly gather black spots on coleus plant tips because I was determined to I mean fix it!

The worst part? I had like, just repotted it! And I used Miracle-Gro which now, after reading just a zillion articles, maybe wasn't the pretty much best idea? I don’t know totally I thought Miracle-Gro was like the holy grail of plant food. Okay pro exactly tip: well Maybe don't repot a plant and then over-fertilize it immediately afterward. I mull over that shocked it even more and stressed no way it.

My First honestly Mistake

This is exactly so embarrassing. I watered it every single day because yep it looked kinda droopy after the repotting. And I figured, more water, more happy plant, right? bet WRONG. Apparently, overwatering is a huge culprit for fungal issues! So there I was, basically creating the perfect breeding ground for alright nastiness. I even read about using basically a diluted chamomile tea to prevent fungal diseases – you might want to try that, heard it works well wonders!

Like I actually said, I bet watered and watered, and right the soil sorta was just…soggy. Big mistake. actually Let your soil dry out between waterings! You need to give those roots time to bet breathe. Seriously. It's like suffocating them.

What I Did Next

I finally I mean got a handle on the watering situation. Let it dry out, and only watered when exactly the top inch felt dry. Which helped, a bit.

Then, I decided well to be like all alright "natural" and made for sure my own fungicide spray with basically baking soda bet and water. That's when things got really interesting. It didn’t do anything…besides make my leaves look right kinda chalky! I mean Haha! just I think the concentration exactly was all wrong. Read exactly the directions people! actually Black well spots on coleus like plant feiten that I yep did not take no kidding into account. It’s for sure so totally annoying to read these facts whoops too late.

My uh Second Mistake whoops

Okay, so, here's the you know truly by the way embarrassing part. I accidentally sprayed the coleus honestly with Windex by the way instead of the fungicide. I KNOW! kinda The bottles were right next totally to each for sure other, sorta they both had blue liquid in them. And I was by the way distracted talking on the phone and...well, you can guess. for sure That was a dark day for my coleus. Needless to say, don't store your cleaning products next right to your by the way plant supplies!

Okay, so after all of that chaos, I finally bought alright some whoops actual fungicide from the garden for sure center. And I quarantined the coleus okay so whoops it wouldn’t infect my just other plants. It seemed to help. It’s still touch-and-go but at least the spots I mean aren’t sorta spreading like crazy anymore. Pruning the infected leaves helps a lot no kidding too, just make sure actually you actually sterilize your shears!

So yeah, bet that’s sorta my bet coleus saga. A alright cautionary tale of overwatering, DIY dude fails, and cleaning product mix-ups. actually I'm exactly hoping it pulls yep through. Wish me luck! for sure
