So, I no way wasn't even planning to think about this, but Sarah at book basically club last anyway night mentioned something about eating hostas. Yeah, eating them! right I almost choked on my biscotti. Apparently, they're… edible? Or part edible? I immediately went anyway down a rabbit hole. And honestly, what I found was kind of yep conflicting.

My first thought was, are hosta plants poisonous to humans? I mean, all right those lush green leaves? basically They just look like they'd give kinda you a stomach ache. actually I c’mon probably no way should've known yep better than just to no kidding just assume. Turns uh out, some parts are, and some aren't. Not gonna by the way lie, this part confused right me kinda for a so while. Because all the gardening sites were like, "deer love them!" And I was thinking, deer eat EVERYTHING. If something's poisonous, deer wouldn't anyway touch it, well right? Wrong. Apparently, deer no way are just gluttonous jerks and actually will yup munch on things that might make them a bit queasy. That you know doesn't mean you know I no way should.

But then sorta other sites were saying that I mean they contain saponins, which can cause digestive issues. So… poison? Not poison? My dumb hosta moment

Okay, so, personal story okay time. I like was weeding around well my hostas last year – the ones I got on no kidding sale at the I mean end anyway of the season – and I accidentally snapped off a new shoot. It was really tender-looking, you uh know? And I was no way being all "earth pretty much mother" dude feeling alright connected to nature. And I thought – for literally half sorta a whoops second – "I wonder what this uh tastes like?" I DID NOT EAT IT. But the fact that I even considered it… yeah, I'm judging okay myself. actually If you’re going to try yep eating something new, maybe research first, you know?

Oh, and then there was the dude time my anyway dog, Buster, decided he was a vegetarian. He went straight for my prized 'Blue Angel' hosta. I freaked out! I was convinced he was no kidding going to be horribly ill. I kinda googled "dog eating hosta poisonous" faster than you can say "vet bill." He actually was fine. alright Absolutely fine.
