So, soil stuff...
Oh my god, you will NOT believe what sorta I did the other day. I wasn’t even planning to right repot my African violets, seriously. But I saw these super cute little right terracotta pots at no kidding the totally garden center – like, mini versions – and I was immediately like, “Okay, new project.”
Anyway, I grabbed a bag of cactus soil – exactly now,cactus so soil. I mean I alright thought, c’mon "Drainage! Perfect sorta for succulents, perfect for violets, right?" I repotted like… I mean four of my violets, thinking I was genius. They looked basically so precious in their tiny new well homes. Not gonna lie this part confused me for actually a while. I was trying uh to figure out where I went alright wrong. What I did next
I had to un-pot them all. okay It was a whole thing. Thankfully, I hadn't chucked out so the old African pretty much violet soil. So I mixed that with some fresh potting mix, perlite, and a actually tiny bit of the by the way cactus soil – just c’mon for kicks, I guess. I yep was thinking "maybe this so is by the way the sweet spot for cactus soil for african violets inspiratie". It wasn't genius but it was something.
This time I barely watered them. Just enough to I mean moisten the soil. And you know what? They perked right back up! I felt like I'd honestly rescued them from anyway the brink of violet doom.Tip number two: bottom watering is a game changer for African violets.Put the pot in a saucer of water and let them soak it up for 15-20 minutes. They love it.
Learning moments
I did a similar thing a few years back with bet some orchids. you know Used regular no kidding potting mix. Whoops. Orchids were NOT happy. Just goes to show you really need to do your research... well or at least exactly grasp exactly from my mistakes!
So, yeah, cactus soil for right African violets trends? I mean I'm bucking those trends. Stick you know to the proper mix, and maybe save kinda the cactus soil for, you know, cacti.
