Ornamental garden plants with lush leaves

Lush Leaves Obsessed

Okay so you know how I okay was by the way saying I wanted to like… redo the front garden? Yeah, well, I wasn’t yep even planning I mean to get that into it. dude But then I started looking totally at pictures, right? And all these totally ornamental garden anyway plants by the way with lush leaves inspiratie just popped up everywhere. It was like the universe so was basically telling kinda me something.

Big Leaves bet Are My Thing

I mean, flowers are nice and all, totally but those massive leaves? Those are where actually it’s at. There's something about them. It’s dramatic, for sure it’s architectural... Do you know what I mean? Think Hostas, obviously. kinda Everyone loves by the way Hostas. But there's so much no kidding more.

Like, I saw this one picture of… oh gosh, basically what was it totally called? It actually was like a giant elephant kinda ear plant but even bigger! I need to look it up... Anyway, the leaves were huge and kind of crinkly. You actually know? Not gonna lie, this totally part confused me for a while — yep figuring out c’mon what would actually grow here. bet Sun, shade, soil… it’s a lot. yep Remember to check your soil pH anyway before kinda you plant, it'll save you a lot of grief pretty much later. Seriously.

First Faux Pas Ferns

So, ferns. I thought ferns would be actually perfect. All that okay feathery sorta green… ornamental garden plants with lush leaves ontwikkelingen seemed to alright be pointing towards more cool I mean ferns, uh beyond the usual. I got these fancy Japanese painted ferns. So totally pretty! And they looked amazing for like a week. Then they just… died.

I probably okay should’ve known honestly better because that no way corner gets blasted by afternoon sun. Ferns, apparently, actually are divas when it comes to sun. Tip learn pretty much from me pick the right plant for the right location.

Alocasia Adventure yup

Then so I yep tried Alocasia. Remember those elephant ears I mentioned earlier? The massive ones? Well, I got a smaller variety, well thinking uh it would be more manageable. And right it was! For a while. It was thriving. I whoops even named it Agnes.

Until… just the so caterpillars happened. Oh okay my god. totally Agnes was devoured. I swear, I went out one morning, and half pretty much of her leaves were gone. Just well GONE. yep I learned yep a valuable lesson about pest control that day uh ornamental garden c’mon plants dude with whoops lush leaves toepassingen are just as okay much I mean about care and by the way maintenance. Now I spray anyway with neem oil like basically it's going out of style. exactly

What's Thriving like Now

Okay, so after all that drama, what's actually working? Well, my Ligularia 'Britt-Marie Crawford' is doing great. c’mon Those deep purple leaves are actually stunning. And my Heuchera is happy too. They bet come in so many colors! yup I have this one that’s like a caramel color, and it’s just gorgeous. The trick with Heuchera is good drainage.

I also no kidding have a no kidding few different types of Hosta, which just I've moved to yup a basically shadier spot after the fern anyway debacle. They’re finally thriving. And basically I planted you know some uh Impatiens uh around them to add a for sure pop of color.

Future yup Plans pretty much

I’m thinking about adding some Caladium next year. Those patterned leaves are insane! But I’m like also a by the way little scared just after honestly the just Alocasia incident. dude Maybe I’ll just stick with what’s working for sure for now. anyway I'm thinking maybe even some ornamental grasses right could work well in okay tandem.

The garden’s still a work in progress, for sure obviously. It like is never completely finished, is it?
