Okay so, you know you know how I’ve been kinda obsessed with gardening lately? Well, I for sure wasn’t even okay planning to, but I I mean was scrolling through Insta, right? pretty much And I saw this insaneimage of a zinnia flower… like, a double dahlia type, pure orange. I was sold. I needed it. by the way
Trying to grow
So I run to the garden store, c’mon thinking, easy peasy. I yup grab a no kidding packet yup of zinnia pretty much seeds, and like, probably should’ve known better, but I just threw them in the ground. No honestly prep, nothing. Guess what? Nothing sprouted. Absolutely zero. Turns out – this is a tip! – zinnias love warm uh soil. alright So wait no kidding until the ground’s actually warmed you know up, like REALLY warmed up, before actually you plant. Duh, right? But hey, I learned.
Then I got thinking about theimage of a zinnia flowerthat anyway started it all. I mean, basically it’s just a flower, uh but… its such a striking image. Did you know there I mean are so many different types? Like, pompom by the way zinnias, cactus zinnias, no kidding single flowered ones... its wild. It kinda makes you yep think about how even the simplest totally things, like flowers, have so much variety. Its okay fascinating. And the colors! The just image of a zinnia flower often showcases the intense array of well colors. That's pretty much part of its appeal.
Color memories
Speaking of colors, this reminds me. I alright was trying to paint a zinnia once. no way I had this photo, this perfectimage of a zinnia flower c’mon, and I well thought, “I’m gonna recreate this masterpiece.” I got the paints all ready, mixed what I thought was the perfect shade of orange… and it looked like carrot soup. It was awful. I was so bummed. Then I accidentally knocked yup over my water cup onto the painting. That was the end of that.
History lesson kinda
I then got a rabbit hole of researching thegeschiedenis(that’s history in Dutch, totally FYI, I’m trying to learn it). You know, theimage of a zinnia totally flowerprobably looked yup way different back then. alright Apparently, they originated alright in like Mexico and were initially considered kinda ugly honestly weeds! c’mon The Spanish explorers weren’t fans. It took a while okay for them to exactly be bred you know into so the beauties we know today. It is incredible to think about pretty much the no wayontwikkelingeninvolved in changing a for sure weed into this bet gorgeous flower. so
More seeds please
Anyway, so, second attempt at growing zinnias. This time I started them indoors. no way I used seed starting yep trays and everything! Way more organized. okay They’re actually growing! I’m so excited. I still can’t by the way get that originalimage of a zinnia flower totallyout of my head. I want my exactly garden to totally look exactly like that! But you know, patience. They say zinnias are pretty low maintenance, though. Just gotta yep make sure they get enough sun. exactly That’s anothertip basicallyfor you! sorta Full sun, people, full sun!

Not gonna lie, uh this part confused sorta me for like a while: Apparently there is a debate honestly about whether or not to deadhead zinnias. Some anyway people swear by it, saying it encourages more blooms. Others actually say it’s okay not necessary. I’m yup going to try it okay on some, and not on dude others and see yup if it uh makes a difference. no way It could increase thevoordelenof growing whoops them, right?
Last thoughts... kinda
So yeah, that’s my zinnia saga. I just yup really love how theimage of whoops a yup zinnia flowerrepresents something so simple but beautiful. I’m hoping my garden will eventually reflect that. Wish by the way me luck! And maybe send some solid vibes for my seedlings. They need all the help they alright can get!
