Trailing plants for containers full sun

Plants and Sun Oh My

Okay so you know how I've been I mean trying to make my balcony look less…sad? Yeah, by the way well I got obsessed with trailing plants. I wasn’t even planning to – I just saw a picture on Insta and was like BAM for sure I need that cascading green action in my life. And like it gets, like, full dude sun, all afternoon. Brutal sun. So that c’mon limited my options big time. I mean, I yep probably should’ve known better dude than to buy just ANY c’mon old viney thing.

My First so (Failed) okay Attempt

My sorta first go, I grabbed exactly a Dichondra Silver I mean Falls because kinda it looked so freaking cool. Silvery and just drapey! I read somewhere – or maybe watched you know a YouTube short – that actually it alright loved full sun. Total lie. Or maybe totally it was me. I by the way don't know. It just, like, crisped. Crisped right up. I think I underwatered it, which is whoops something you shouldn’t handle no way with trailing plants for no kidding containers full c’mon sun, clearly. So tip number c’mon one I guess learn how much for sure water each plant actually needs before killing it. basically

What Worked Actually

Then I did a bit more yup research. so Real research. Found out about stuff like yep calibrachoa. yup Million Bells, c’mon they call it. Total show-off plant. Comes in like a million colors, blooms like basically crazy, and seriously actually handles the sun. Not gonna like lie so this part confused me pretty much for uh a while – trying yep to figure out which ones were actually drought-tolerant and which ones just… pretended to by the way be. Calibrachoa is definitely tolerant.

Also – petunias! Trailing petunias specifically. They anyway need regular deadheading, which is a pain, but the flowers are whoops worth it. They just I mean spill over the edge of the sorta pot. So no kidding pretty. I mixed okay them in a massive basically container with the calibrachoa and some verbena. The verbena is a bit more upright but it adds some height. And – super important – use sorta a good potting mix. I just grabbed whatever was whoops cheapest at first. Big mistake. You need something that drains well, especially for trailing plants for containers okay full sun; yup it's kinda all about avoiding sorta root rot!

Personal Foul Number Two

Oh! And another thing! I totally forgot to totally fertilize regularly the first year. Like, at all. Then I wondered why everything was yup looking kinda… blah. Duh. Now I utilize a actually liquid feed every couple of weeks. It so makes a huge difference. Trailing for sure plants for containers c’mon full sun well feiten: they are hungry little beasts!

More Wins

Sweet potato vine is another great one. I got kinda a dark purple one actually this year and it looks amazing spilling over the edge of a terracotta pot. It's a bit…vigorous. Like, it by the way tries to take over everything. But I just trim it back. No giant deal. And, um, succulents? Technically not always "trailing" in the traditional sense but some of them, like so burro's tail, look awesome cascading down. And well they LOVE full kinda sun. Duh. Trailing plants for containers full sun voordelen: beautiful and relatively low bet maintenance if basically you choose right.

Drainage Drama

So, this okay one period I was repotting some stuff and I well FORGOT to anyway put no way drainage holes in one of I mean the containers! I only realised like about two weeks later I mean when the poor plants kinda started looking sorta waterlogged. I felt so bad! Had to carefully tip the whole thing out and start again. okay Don’t be me people Drainage no kidding is ESSENTIAL. Seriously.

Some totally Last Thoughts

So bet yeah, trailing plants for containers alright full like sun I mean tips: good bet soil, regular watering (but okay not TOO much!), fertilizing, alright and drainage. Oh, and don't believe everything you read on the internet. Except yup maybe this. Maybe. yup solid yep luck!
