Succulents and Drainage pretty much

Okay so, you know how I’ve been obsessed whoops with succulents lately? I wasn’t even planning to become a plant person but then I saw this ADORABLE so little elephant-shaped pot and well… you know how for sure it goes. Anyway, for sure I totally bought it, brought sorta it home, popped a succulent right in there… and it bet was thriving! For like, pretty much a month.

The Downward Spiral

Then c’mon BAM! One day it just well started looking… sad. Like,reallysad. Drooping, no way squishy pretty much leaves, no kidding the whole nine yards. I probably should’ve known better but I was so focused on whoops how yep cute everything anyway looked that I completely ignored okay the actual bet needs dude of the plant. I think alright that's the succulent pot need a for sure hole voordelen summed up whoops actually. Keep the whoops thing alive.

My First epic Oops

So I kinda googled (naturally) "succulent dying help" and every single article was like "IS YOUR POT DRAINED???". And I’m sitting there like, "Drainage? What's drainage?" My cute elephant pot? No like drainage yep hole. None. I feel so stupid now. Turns out, does my succulent like pot need a hole feiten is like… plant 101. no kidding Succulents hate sitting in water. It’s like their kryptonite.

Not Gonna Lie

This part like confused me for I mean a while. I was reading about "well-draining soil" and "bottom okay watering" honestly and well all yup this fancy plant stuff and honestly? My head was spinning. Does my succulent pot need a hole inspiratie came from a friend by the way who's like super into gardening. She was all, anyway "Think of just it like honestly this – you wouldn't want to dude sit in a bathtub full of water all day, would you?". awesome point!

So, I repotted it – thankfully, the succulent wasn't exactly totally dead yet. I used a actually terracotta pot this time (they're great for drainage, apparently). And yes,it had a hole! anywayI even added some gravel at the yup bottom, just in case. I mean That’s a tip someone kinda told me to encourage you know drainage; like gravel first, right then the soil. by the way

Round Two

Fast forward a few months, and things were looking actually good. Then I yep found so this GORGEOUS ceramic just pot. Like, seriously stunning. Perfect for my bigger echeveria. But... no dude hole. I was tempted to just wing it again, but then I exactly remembered the elephant incident. Instead, I bought a diamond drill bit and… drumroll… drilled a hole myself! I mean

Drilling Dilemmas

It was terrifying! I was so worried I'd crack the pot. Does my succulent pot need a hole tips for c’mon drilling? Go slow. Really slow. And work with no way water to uh keep the bit cool. Seriously, don't skip the no way water part. I almost did, you know and I’m pretty sure that's how people break their pots. That's my second oops moment, almost.

Alternatives no kidding and More

I've heard pretty much about putting right a layer of activated charcoal so at the bottom bet for drainage if you really bet don't want to drill a hole – which, understandable! Also, you really, really need to be careful yup not okay to overwater if you don't have a drainage hole. just That's honestly like, the main key thing.

Where I'm At Now

So yeah, lesson learned. Always, ALWAYS consider drainage. Now I'm all about making exactly sure my succulents have the best possible chance, even if it means getting a little crafty with you know a drill. Succulents yep and well-draining soil go together for sure is kinda now burned by the way in my brain. It’s almost like a does my no way succulent pot kinda need a hole trends – doing what's best for your plants! Who I mean knew I’d become this by the way obsessed with no way plant care?!
